Learning to fly enables you to acquire freedom of the skies. Any pilot will tell you what a fantastic experience it is to be able to fly an aircraft. It is a learning experience where you will discover yourself and gain a valuable skill.
The JAR Private Pilot Licence (PPL) Flight instruction - structured flight training, fully integrated with the ground school on flying techniques, air law, human performance, meteorology, flight planning and communications. Navigation skills will also be learnt and tested during the course to prepare you for your final skills test. This licence is internationally acceptable and will allow you to fly light aircraft anywhere in the world. The minimum age is 17 and there is no upper age limit to hold a licence, but you can only count the hours from age 14. Minimum hours: 45.
The National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL) The key differences are that this licence only allows you to fly within the UK and only in good weather. The minimum number of hours is 35 requirements apply. Minimum hours: 35 Training per hour is £140 in a Piper Cherokee.
